Why does SFM offer Aesthetic Services? 
Because we believe in helping you feel beautiful inside and out.  You may not realize that Botox is natural and the fillers Restylane and Perlane are natural products.  We focus on offering natural products and procedures, performed by a naturopathic physician.   Many of you have specifically asked for a naturopathic physician to perform these services.      
Why not shop by price or specials and get it anywhere? 
Because having enhancements done on the most valuable aspect of your body, your face, can't be just done by anyone. Many places do not have a physician evaluate or perform these highly delicate procedures. They have a technician or an aesthetician. Some that do have a physician may have one that's taken a one day or weekend course and then starts working on you. Helping enhance someone's face is not just learning the technical requirements of how to do the procedures, it requires an inate artistic sense and a passion for wanting and knowing what it takes to make each person beautiful. If you've had procedures done and it didn't come out as you expected, or it just didn't look right, you have experienced work by someone who's a technician rather than an artist.
We're proud of Dr. Ruiz's reputation as a true artist. Having him personally do your natural Botox, natural fillers and peels equates to having a master painter like Monet painting on your canvas. Dr. Robert Ruiz is a board certified naturopathic physician who moved to Oregon from his private practice in Arizona. His previous practice focused on Anti-aging and Aesthetic Medicine. He is a founding board member of the Naturopathic Board of Aesthetic Medicine (NPBAM), an independent Credentialing Board in the U.S. representing Naturopathic Physicians.
He is an expert in the use of Botox® and Dysport® to improve moderate to severe lines of the forehead, vertical lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, and lines around the mouth; the use of cosmetic fillers such as Restylane® and Perlane® to correct deep wrinkles, provide natural lip augmentation or correct peri-oral lines commonly referred to as “smoker’s lines”; and the use of chemical peels to help correct acne, sun damage, and age spots.

Botox Cosmetic ®

BOTOX Cosmetic® treatments are among the most popular, non-surgical cosmetic treatments in North America. The treatments temporarily eliminate or reduce frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. What to Expect

The entire treatment is 10-15 minutes and requires no downtime. A very tiny needle is used to increase patient comfort. Bruising is a possibility with any injections, but is quite rare when injecting Botox Cosmetic®. Results typically last 3-5 months. 

Chemical Peels (several types including Vi-Peel)

 A chemical peel is a beautiful way to improve the texture of the skin, reduce pores, reduce hyperpigmentation such as age spots, foster a healthy glow and improve acne. Dr. Ruiz has always recommended a chemical peel as an economic treatment that delivers a beautiful, natural result. Chemical peels can be very mild, moderate or more aggressive. This will be individualized for the patient and the patient’s concerns. The V-peel is the mildest one and is great for all skin types.  That's a good place to start for newbies.

How the Chemical Peel Works  

Chemical peeling agents cause a controlled injury to the skin. This causes the treated area to peel away. Mild to moderate peels are safe and effective, with minimal side effects and minimal downtime. Typically a series of 1 to 3 peels is recommended.

What to Expect

During the treatment, you will experience a mild to moderate stinging sensation that lasts between 15-30 seconds. For 24 hours after the treatment, you will have a healthy glow (may look like you’ve had a little too much sun). On the second day, you get dry and tight. Toward the end of the second day or on the third day, you will peel. Peeling is similar to what is experience post-sunburn. Typically, you peel days 3-5. By day 5 or 6, skin will be dry and slightly pink. There is minimal to no discomfort during this process.

Restylane ® & Perlane ®

 Restylane® and Perlane® are safe and natural cosmetic dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane® and Perlane® are made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that gives skin a plump, youthful appearance. As we age, the levels of hyaluronic acid and collagen decrease. Young, healthy skin is plump and full. Dr. Ruiz can help restore that volume. Dr. Ruiz believes that injecting cosmetic filler is an artistic endeavor and prides himself in giving his patients a natural correction. By adding filler in the areas that have lost volume, Dr. Ruiz can turn back the clock giving patients a more natural and beautiful correction.

What to Expect

The entire treatment is 30-60 minutes and requires no downtime. Topical numbing agents or blocks may be used to reduce discomfort. All injections are done with a very tiny needle, which makes things much more comfortable for the patient. Bruising is a possibility with any injection, but is minimal when injecting Restylane® and Perlane® . Reduce bruising by avoiding the following prior to treatment: aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, vitamin E, garlic, and ginkgo biloba. Plan your treatment in advance of special events so that any swelling or bruising is healed. Results typically last 3-6 months with Restylane® and 5-8 months with Perlane®.
